When Foursquare launched their location-based service back in 2009 there was one particular badge that received a lot of attention, the “Douchebag” badge. While some users thought the badge was funny, others felt the badge was offensive and did their best to avoid unlocking it. Although it is outside the scope of this article, you can read more about the “Douchebag Problem” at TechCrunch.
Regardless how you feel about the badge, if you unlocked the Douchebag badge or any other badge and want it removed from your profile you’re in luck.
To remove a particular badge from your Foursquare profile, visit your profile and perform the following steps:
1. Click on the badge you wish to remove.
2. Take note of the date and venue name as this is the information you will need to remove the badge from your profile.
3. Visit your Check-in History and search for the date and venue name that unlocked the badge you want to remove.
4. After locating the check-in that unlocked the badge, simply click the “X” next to the check-in to delete it from your history.
That’s it, you’re done. This will remove the badge from your profile.
Please note: Some badges are no longer active, therefore, if you remove a badge from your profile you may not have the opportunity to unlock it again in the future.
