My Visit To Lizard Lick Towing

While I typically only watch television shows that air on my favorite networks such as ESPN, History, A&E, Nat Geo, Animal Planet and a couple of others, there are times when I slip a few train-wreck reality shows onto my DVR for later viewing. Enter: Lizard Lick Towing.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the show, Lizard Lick Towing is a reality series that airs on TruTV every Monday at 10:00 p.m. and follows the daily high-octane escapades of the Lizard Lick crew as they attempt to repossess vehicles, boats, construction equipment, animals, and a laundry list of other crazy things. The crew, lead by owners Ron & Amy Shirley and their best buddy, Bobby Brantley, always seem to get caught up in some of the most insanely-dangerous situations that turn ugly – in a hurry.

My Cousin Vinny: Then and Now 20th Anniversary

My Cousin Vinny Banner
Let me start this post by saying that I’m not a huge movie buff, but like anyone else I do enjoy watching movies and also have a list of movies that I call my favorites. Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Breakfast Club, Casino, and Heat are just a few of the movie titles that hold a comfortable spot on my all-time favorite list. However, My Cousin Vinny, a 1992 comedy film directed by Jonathan Lynn, definitely rounds out the top ten on my all-time favorite list of movies. Perhaps you’ve seen it, heard of it? Ok, well, if you fall into the very small group of movie-goers who have missed this hilarious film here’s the plot in a nutshell.

Joe Pesci, Marisa Tomei, Ralph Macchio, and Chris Credendino (Ok, I kid. I kid. You can strike my name from the list of actors, but my last name does end in the letter “o,” I am Italian, come from New York, and think I would have added something a little extra to the film – just sayin’.) are among the actors who headline the star-studded cast in this hilarious comedy about two New Yorkers who are accused of murder in rural Alabama while traveling back to college. Vincent “Vinny” Gambini, a loudmouth, obnoxious personal injury attorney from Brooklyn with zero trial experience heads south to defend the “two yutes.” Oh, excuse me… I mean… two YOUUUTHS! And so the laughs begin!

How To Mass Delete Spam Comments In WordPress

WordPress
A buddy of mine left his WordPress blog unattended for several months because he wasn’t publishing new content at the time nor was he monitoring the comments. Unfortunately, his blog didn’t have a Disqus or Facebook comment system in place and he failed to include a spam filter such as Akismet with his current comment system. The result: thousands and thousands of spam comments flooded his blog posts.

At the time of this writing, WordPress doesn’t have a way for the user to send spam comments to the trash with a single click. I’m sure that feature will be added in the future, perhaps an “Empty Spam” button similar to the “Empty Trash” button, but for now the user must either manually select each spam comment and send it to the trash or install a plugin that will do the trick. Clearly the former option isn’t going to work well for anyone and sometimes installing a plugin reduces the speed of the WordPress blog.

My First Faceversary: One Year of Facebooking

Facebook
Today is my first Faceversary (i.e. Facebook + Anniversary = Faceversary) of the day I rejoined Facebook. Now that it’s been exactly one year since I rejoined the social network I thought it would be a good idea to share my first-year experience.

Overall, my first 12 months on Facebook went really well. However, things have definitely changed since I left the social network in 2006. The site went through some major redesigns and a boatload of new features were added. I remember when the Facebook Wall was the only feature on the social network that people huddled around.

Why I Joined Facebook – Again!

Facebook
On Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at approximately 8:30 p.m., I joined all my family and friends on Facebook. This wasn’t the first time I joined the social network, however. In fact, the very first time I joined Facebook was back in July 2005 along with a couple of my college buddies – Eric and Coby. At that time it was called “The Facebook” and was only available to the college crowd. It wasn’t until a few months after I joined that the social network dropped “The” from its name and changed it to simply “Facebook.”

When I first joined the social network not much was going on as you can imagine. Facebook was still in its infancy and wasn’t well polished. It lacked all the bells and whistles we see today. For example, there wasn’t a news feed, photo or video uploads, chat, vanity URLs, Like or Share buttons, smartphone apps, games, and privacy settings were weak. In a nutshell, we had a Wall. That was our excitement on Facebook.

How I Use Posterous

After kicking the idea around for a while, I finally decided to sign up and give Posterous a try. For those of you who are not familiar with Posterous, it’s a simple blogging platform that allows you to post anything to the Web using e-mail. Simply send an e-mail to post@posterous.com including content such as text, documents, photos, videos, music, or audio and Posterous will take care of the rest.

The reason I decided to use Posterous is because it bridges the gap between Twitter and my WordPress blog. There’s a lot going in the space between Twitter and a full length blog so I felt it was necessary to have space where I can post content that exceeds the 140 character limit and falls short of my formal WordPress content.
